"Morpheus"

Next Borzoi
Mr. Morpheus is the largest pup in the litter. He isn't actually any taller (at least not the last time I measured him) than say Luther who is ten pounds lighter, Morpheus just has a larger frame. Morpheus is the only pup from this litter who has shown no indication that he would run. In fact, this pup ran away from the lure the first time he was introduced to it. Surely, I thought, he is not afraid of the lure. So we took him to the coyote tail that was attached to the string. When we showed the coyote tail to Morpheus he got the most disgusted look on his face causing the entire gallery to laugh. One of the people watching his reaction coined the name "Tofu Boy," (later corrupted to "Silken Tofu Boy") which sort of stuck. I really did try to give this dog a manly name. Morpheus does excell at sweetness and he grins with very little provocation.

Morpheus now lives with Louise and Mimi Hotchkiss near Los Angeles, California. Somehow, it is fitting that a Borzoi who turns up his nose at coyote tails, takes on the nickname "Tofu Boy," and has such a laid-back demeanor ends up living in Southern California. Catch a few waves for me, dude!

Morpheus and stash

Towel? What towel? Really, Mom, I have just been relaxing here the whole time. I don't know how this stuff got outside!

Fancy Spot from the front

A shot of Morpheus from the front. I managed to get this photo before he figured out that I was looking at him with the little box with the big eye that the dogs find so fascinating.

Morpheus enjoying the pool
Morpheus contemplating existence in the pool

As you can perhaps tell from these three pictures, Morpheus loves relaxing in the pool. The top photo was taken when Morpheus was two months old. He took to the water immediately as can be shown in the bottom two photos taken on one of the pups' first days outside. Morpheus had a tendency to sit on the edge of the water pan and just gaze off into the distance. It looked like he was thinking very hard or contemplating existance.
