"Lightning"

|
Lightning is one of four self brindles in the B litter. Her distinguishing feature was a straight, pencil thin blaze. So, she became Lightning. This later corrupted to Ningka and Ningkadink. After going through a seriously hideous ugly stage starting during a very rapid growth period somewhere around three months she ended up being one of my best quality show prospects. Currently, she is my pick show quality bitch in this litter. She cannot participate in lure coursing, but she makes up for this with her sweet personality and beauty. Lightning's looks echo the old Kristull dogs I "grew up" with when I started in the breed. The features she has that are also heavily present across the breadth of this litters are, good shoulder angles, beautiful rear assembly both from the side and from the rear, nice wide hocks, soundness coming and going, beautiful, arched neck, black eye haws, high-set, small ears, low tail set, lure interest and desire to run.

Lightning standing in the yard looking at something with her sister, Hay Luz in the backgound. We had just had four inches of rain. Of course the dogs were enjoying playing in all the puddles and were soaking wet.
|
January seems to be a good month for great profile photos. I was able to snap this photo of Lightning's profile on January 31, 2008.
|
I love this photo of Lightning, taken on March 3, 2007.

Lightning free standing from the rear. Photo taken on June 28, 2007.

Here is Lightning while she was standing in the same pose as the first picture of her above but from a different angle. This picture was taken on June 28, 2007 after a severe rain fall that dropped four inces in two hours.
|
Finally, a recent photo of Lightning from the front. She was watching a squirrel up in a tree on April 18, 2008.

Lightning's face from the front.

Quick! Get the camera! Lightning is free stacked in the yard and Hay Luz isn't hanging off her neck!
|
Well, this photo is proof that Lightning can actually sit. When she took part in an obedience class Lightning pretty much refused to sit. "How could she be expected to fold up her back legs to sit? What an undignified position for a lovely borzoi girl like her to be in." But look! She can sit! And she can do it all by herself.

Here is Lightning checking out some activity in the street.

Lightning's Face. I really love the pencil thin white stripe of her blaze. When she was born there were no gaps in her blaze, but with time she lost part of her lightning bolt. This photo was taken on September 5, 2006.

The problem with taking candid shots in place of formal stacked photos is that most of them do not turn out for one reason or another. The advantage is that I can't make the dog look like a dork because of my questionable skills as a presenter of show dogs if I am not stacking them. This is not quite a perfect stacked pose, but it works pretty well. Here Lightning is coiled and ready to leap into an attack on her siblings when the right moment presents itself. We had just had a bunch of rain and the dogs were having great fun getting soaking wet and filthy (the summer of 2007 was just as cool and wet as the summer of 2006 was hot and dry so that means we almost drowned and it never reached 100 degrees, weird).

Lightning runs! Much to my surprise and delight Lightning suddenly decided to get interested in the lure. Lucky for me, Dan Gause was taking photos at the competition where Lightning got her JC. So, not only did she get her JC, a title I never thought she would get, but I got some really nice photos. Cool!
