"Hay Luz"

On November 28, 2008 Hay Luz achieved her first major title, her American Sighthound Field Association (ASFA) field championship. I am very proud of my girl. To celebrate, I offer several photos of Miss Hay Luz doing what she loves best (well, other than playing with her sister and mother), running after the lure. And, of course, the celebration continued when Hay Luz finished her AKC Field Champion title on February 7, 2009. Now for racing!

Hay Luz stretches during the extended suspension phase of the double suspension or rotary gallop. This photo was taken by Shot on Site during the first lure trial of the year, January 13, 2008.

Hay Luz in the contracted phase (just after suspension) of the double suspension gallop. This is the same trial as the photo above. She is competing with CJ, to the left of the photo, and Sugar, to the right of the photo. This picture was taken by Shot on Site Photography.

Hay Luz kicking up dirt as she accelerates during her first trial as a field champion on November 29, 2008. She eventually took her first placement toward her LCM on the day this photo was taken. Photo by Shot on Site.

This photo was taken moments after the one just above. Again this photo was taken by Shot on Site.

Hay Luz in the finals on November 29, 2008. She looked really good during this final run. Photo by Shot on Site.

I am not sure how this happened. Hay Luz, you are supposed to chase the plastic bags that are attached to the string, not try to wear the string! Don't worry, Hay Luz was not burned by the string, she was going the same speed. Photo by Shot on Site.

When Hay Luz started chasing the lure (which was pretty much from birth) I sort of worried about her. One never knows if a borzoi will have the interest to chase plastic, and if they do the question remains if their interest in chasing white polymer bags will continue. Hay Luz was so light on the lead when I brought her to the line and she never showed much interest in the lure once it stopped, I was a bit concerned that she did not find the game very interesting. But, as she has competed, she has developed a love for attacking the lure at the end of the course. She is still light as a feather walking up to the starting line (a totally unique experience, sort of like driving your first car with power steering), but she is definitely becoming a serious bag shredder! I am so glad she loves this game.
|
Well, this is not a photo of Hay Luz running, but as you no doubt have noticed, I am unashamedly in love with this girl's cute face. So I just had to share this photo! I took this picture in March 16, 2008. She was one month shy of her second birthday.

Another view of Hay Luz' pretty head. This is such a classic Borzoi pose.

The eyes have it! Well, these eyes have my heart, at least.
