The name, Bheru, that was picked for this fellow means "friend." I can't think of a better name for this dog. While he was still living with me he took great delight in participating in everything I did. He is also the puppy that everyone loved at first site. I think this might have as much to do with his beautiful orange red and white color as with his delightful personality. Bheru started with a very promising lure coursing career, but it looked like he was going to emulate his mother by running very well, but choosing from time to time not to share the lure with others. So, Bheru is now living the academic life with Richard Olenick and his new kennel sisters, Mishka, Sunny, and Kate. During the school year he spends his time visiting his owner's office at the university, going for long walks daily and lounging around at the pool with his three "sisters" (or should I say harem). Then he spends his summer at his owner's cabin in the Rocky Mountains. How good is that? All the advantages of academic life but none of the grading! Thank you Richard for embracing Bheru and bringing him into your home.

Here is Bheru to a lure practice on February 18, 2007. This is a stacked shot of him as he looked then. Too bad they have to shed their beautiful puppy coat!

Richard sent this photo of Bheru and his new friend Mishka during his first trip up to the cabin. Notice the snow. This photo was taken in May of 2008 at the same time his two litter sisters in San Antonio were having to pant their way through temperatures in the upper 90's. Does Bheru know how lucky he is? Just look at his face.

What a happy Borzoi mob! Here is Bheru with his new Borzoi friends Mishka, Kate, and Sunny. Look at those tails a-wagging. Don't they look like they are having fun? If you look carefully, you can see the streaks of snowflakes that were captured in the photo as they fell. No way would you ever see snow falling here in South Texas in May. Shoot, you hardly ever see the white stuff here during winter. What a difference a few lines of latitude and several hundred feet of altitude can make.

Here is a photo of Bheru's profile I took at the April 22, 2007 lure practice. He really enjoyed chasing plastic. Unfortunately, this fellow showed an indication that he might just want to be a bit possessive with the lure like his mother. But while he enjoyed chasing the plastic bunny, I think Bheru is quite happy running around in the Colorado Rockies and going for walks with his owner instead.

What a pretty backdrop for a picture of Bheru as he explores the area around Richard's cabin. Hey Bheru! I'm jealous!!!

This is Margaret Strother's photo of Bheru when he was but a tiny baby of six weeks of age. He always had the cutest little face.
