When the pups were just a touch over 10 days old I heard one of them howling. I grabbed my camera and snapped this shot. Bheru was the first puppy to howl and I managed to catch him in the act. You can tell his eyes have just opened. |

Since I do not have a pool, I had no idea they made pool covers that dogs could walk on. And walk on it they do. Richard has sent me several photos of the dogs resting on this huge "water bed." The top photo shows Sonny, Mishka, and Bheru walking onto the pool for a relaxing dip into the water. The second photo shows Bheru reclining on the "water bed" when less water was on top of the cover. I am willing to bet that is one comfortable dog bed.
Richard has a lovely cabin in the mountains and his entire dog family enjoy scanning the area from their second story deck. Not only is this fun for the dogs, but it makes a great picture.
One of the fun activities the dogs get to engage in while visiting their vacation cabin is the protection of the estate from evil ground squirrels. I am sure that without the brave protection of his dogs, Richard would have been gnawed to death long ago by these vicious creatures. What noble and selfless creatures dogs are. (Well, dogs really are noble and selfless creatures, but the ground squirrels are hardly vicious and I am sure safe from the dogs due to various hidey holes scattered around their home ground. But don't tell the dogs I told you that).
Another perk associated with Bheru's vacation home is that it is notably cooler there than the typical Texas summer. Here Bheru checks for squirrels on the deck during a blissful May snow storm. Bheru's sisters who live with me may never have the joy of experiencing snow. What a lucky borzoi Bheru is.
Of course there are also the quiet pleasures of vacation. Well, maybe not too quiet depending on the squeeker embedded in this toy. But, simple pleasures like squeaking plush toyslike this is what makes life really good.
Sometimes vacations are hard work. Bheru is shown here crashed out on the couch after an exciting morning of hunting ground squirrels.
